Storyline
The story begins in Jakarta in 1998. At the time of chaos that occurred at that time. Looting everywhere and being targeted were ethnic Chinese. Forcing a girl named Merry Riana who had just graduated from high school was forced to flee to Singapore even though she really wanted to stay, but Merry Riana's parents still asked her to leave immediately.
On the way to the airport, Merry's father was willing to rent an ambulance to use a railroad that was not known by the chaotic times of the time. But unfortunately they and their families are confronted by looters and they are forced to give up their possessions for their safety. At the airport, Merry Riana's parents sell all their property and are only able to get one ticket. Both Merry Riana's parents thought for Merry just to go to Singapore. For the sake of their daughter's safety.
When he arrived in Singapore, Merry was told by his father to find the address of his father's friend who lived there. But apparently the nature that he was looking for turned out to be nonexistent. Merry, who is now alone in Singapore with the money that is mediocre, has to survive at least until his father picks him up. This is where the story of the struggle of Merry Riana begins with having to find a place to live and survive. Lectures and success that become his goals feel so far away.
But Merry Riana didn't just despair, through social media she found a friend during high school named Irene who was studying in Singapore. Merry did not know him so closely, but Merry was convinced that Irene was a good friend. With Irene's help, Merry finally found a place to make a temporary stay until his father arrived. Merry stayed at the Irene dormitory illegally. Because the action violates the rules, finally Merry must be expelled from the dormitory. Irene, trying to negotiate with the campus so that Merry can stay there, the campus gives conditions to stay there must be a student on the campus. and to become a student at the university, Merry had to pass the test. Jerry who had the tenacity and intelligence finally passed the test selection and was accepted at one of the best universities in Singapore. Merry's smile then disappeared when she found out that she had to pay $ 40,000. One of Merry's hopes is to take a student loan that can only be obtained if someone becomes a guarantor. Because there are no relatives and Irene cannot be a guarantor, Merry also has to find a senior student who can be her guarantor.

Because of the persistence of Merry which eventually made Alva finally want to help him to be the guarantor of his debt.
Merry also thought that he had to go to college properly and successfully for the sake of not wanting to trouble his parents because he wanted to make them happy and boast of them. So Merry went to college and thought hard to get a job and doubled the money he had, from working on brochures, online businesses, working in restaurants and playing high-risk stocks. Even once, Merry became a victim of a multi-level marketing guise. All the money runs out because the investment is already in the illegal company.
